There are still some advantages to flashing, such as smoother throttle response, adjusting ignition advance, loading PC5 fuel maps direct to the ECU, turning off AIS, correcting the speedometer, disabling the fuel injector cut off above 6000 RPM's, and other small tweaks that can be made such as adding a quick shifter direct to the ECU.

I have the Flash Tune ECU interface for my 2014 RN23 and have made quite a few changes from the stock image. It's been worth the investment considering the amount I would spend on other devices to do the same things it allows.
