Nie. The modes only affect the YECT (throttle) and how aggressive it is. If you have the kit, you can make your own throttle maps. I've done this with mine to smooth them out and remove most of the on/off feel at low speed as well as reduce engine braking and smooth the maps overall. My A mode is completely changed to a progressive map for more control at the low end with a quick ramp up to full throttle after about 25% throttle. In fact it reaches 100% before fully twisting the throttle.

On an RN22, the gains from having the ECU flashed are more of fine tuning and making adjustments. On the RN23 the gains are some 10% more power due to the throttle restrictions being removed plus fine tuning.

If you want the bike to be more economic, you'll need to control your wrist and resist the urge to go everywhere at full throttle.
